The PDWA changed from the style that was pretty much rebuildable and had imperial fittings to one that was metric fittings with a single removable end and a single shuttle. The change over took place in 1976. The bodies were aluminum, the switches actually had to close to make contact, rather than just contact the shuttle as on MGs.
