GOF Central 2012 XXXIV

First off to Oshkosh and from there down to St. Charles, Illinois for the GOF Central to meet with friends and to show Diane's 1970 MGB Maggie.

Oshkosh Airshow for business and pleasure. It was very hot. We ended up skipping the airiel display. (24 Images)	To GOF We started from Oshkosh, with the top up because of the heat. As we traveled south to New Glarus to meet up with the rest of the Minnesota Group, we hit some rain and a bit of cloudy relief. Unfortunately, the Minnesota Group left without us in the morning, but we had an uneventful drive through Beloit wihich was ravaged by a storm in the middle of the night. We arrived in St. Charles IL with just a few drops of drizzle. The event was at the Pheasant Run Golf Course and Resort. (13 Images)	First Timers Show Since this was the first time we had brought Maggie to a GOF, we were awarded first night display status. It was a lot of fun, and gave people a chance to examine Maggie quite closely. (26 Images)	Volo Car Museum The Volo Museum is both a museum and a consignment shop. There are hundreds of cars for sale. The steal of the shop might currently be a Mercedes Benz 450SL, all original with low miles for $19K. Heck, they are only original once. (60 Images)	Auction Night The auction raises money to pay for the event and offers hilarous entertainment as some of the zanier people in the Central region trade barbs and bid on items. (7 Images)
Car Show The car show was in a small grassy area, along with the vendor swap. The cars were mostly organized, but due to a lack of information on each display card, it was difficult to know if you were voting for a premier car, or a MMM six cylinder varient. There was a single MGB class, so it was going to be tough. Diane came down very ill before the show, and I took her to urgent care first. She insisted I show her Maggie, so we arranged with a Resort Driver to fetch her back to the show. (19 Images)	Funkahna It was Burbon Street themed, a cloverleaf course with water, beads, masks and basketballs. A lot of fun, and Diane felt well enough to drive it in her Maggie. (12 Images)	Banquet The awards banquet. We enjoyed our table, and we came away well awarded. In fact, the entire table over achieved. (10 Images)	Trip Home We came home in one day, taking US Hwy 14 from Northern Chicago to La Crosse Wisconsin, and Hwy 61 the rest of the way to Hastings. It was a beautiful trip of two lanes, and a bit of easy four lanes. A perfect way to end an exciting trip. Maggie ran perfectly, didn't use any oil, and averaged 26 mpg. Can't ask for much more.
