The heart of the driveline. The Austin-Morris B series engine. 1798cc four cylinder with two HS4 carbs with manifolds on one side and cam shaft and pushrods on the other.

Engine Removal To properly refinish the engine bay the engine needed to come out. Besides compression in one is a bit low, and the cam shaft has to be worn by now. So we 'might as well' rebuild the engine. (24 Images)	Engine Teardown Always fun and exciting. Finding out what is in the engine. (120 Images)	Engine Build The engine build became a John Twist Seminar. Quality Coaches asked me to help coordinate their March Seminar, and the first day we did Electrical, Hydraulics and Tool Box Tips. The second day was devoted to an engine 'short block'. I looked for an engine to do, and not finding one, volunteered Diane's. I might build an occasional B Series engine. John does many in a year and has been doing it since 1971. We had a great time and I learned a lot! Steve Bryan took some of these pictures, Jim Penoyer got his hands dirty, and Randy Byboth smoothed the procedures, fetched tools and provided parts if I forgot one at our garage. Thank you guys, and especially thank you John! (120 Images)	Engine Installation Jim Gevay came over to help install the engine. We decided to try it with the engine fully dressed and with the bonnet in place. Things changed rapidly. (26 Images)	Carburetors The SU Carburetors. Since I had them reshaft, the rear carburetor sticks. Now that I do that work myself, I'm going to 'unstick' it. (60 Images)
Distributor The distributor was old and weak. The bushes were loose, and the advance did not seem to function properly. As on the TD, I was off to see the Wizard of Advanced Distributors, Jeff Schlemmer. (17 Images)	Cooling System There's a cooling system? Well, I forgot to take any pictures as I removed the radiator and side panels. But we will still show the installation. (27 Images)	Oil Cooler The oil cooler hoses look like original equipment. They recently failed on a friend's B. I've got some braided hoses and a thermostatic valve to improve performance and reduce the risk of leakage. (10 Images)	Exhaust The exhaust system will just come off and be re-hung. But I will probably have the manifold Jet-Hot coated. (16 Images)
